About Jean Aimé

Jean Aimé is a Vancouver-based Canadian photographer working across travel documentary, environmental portraiture and editorial commissions in Metro Vancouver, Montréal (his hometown) and beyond.

His practice is rooted in a decade of solo cycling expeditions across three continents, where he developed a methodology of unstaged documentary photography under real conditions with no crew and no artifice.

The approach is the same whether the subject is a stretch of European coastline at sunrise or a couple’s first morning in Vancouver: place the camera, compose with the environment as a full participant and select the truth from what was genuinely there.

The also celebrated international DJ and adventurer has been featured on CNN Travel, BBC, CBC, Radio Canada, CTV, GCN, Bicycling Magazine, Outside, Canadian Cycling and Adventure Cyclist among others. He is the subject of an award-winning documentary short presented by MEC on one of his Guinness World Record setting journeys.

Aimé’s images have been used pro bono in fundraising campaigns by the World Food Programme and World Bicycle Relief and shared by outdoor and cycling brands as a reference for honest documentary imagery. On professional assignments he shoots on the Fujifilm GFX medium format system and edits for accuracy and longevity.
